Grant Writer and Fundraising Advisor (GWFA)
HAFN is looking to hire a contractor position to support HAFN fundraising efforts and expand our grants capacity. This person must be collaborative, flexible and committed to HAFN's Core Values (accountability, transparency, self-awareness, and integrity). This person will work under a circular method and with intentions to decolonize/reclaim culture.

Compensation: This is a contractor position, pays $27.50 per hour for 20 hours a week depending on experience.
Timeline: The anticipated start date is immediate. This position needs to begin as soon as possible. The contract will be secure until January 31, 2026. Renewal may be offered depending on performance and the availability of funding.
Reports to/collaborated with: Chief Executive Director, Admin Coordinator, Media & Communications Coordinator, Program Coordinators & Weavers, and Systems and Operations Team. The Grant Operations support will be available to support this work as a team member.
Job Summary: This position is responsible for a comprehensive grant and fundraising strategy that advances the financial sustainability of the organization. This includes institutional support research, submission and relationships building with private, public and philanthropic partners across the Boulder/Denver/Front Range area and beyond. In addition to fundraising campaigns and sponsorship strategies that complement intentional giving. The Grant Writer and Fundraiser is expected to write realistic, timely and successful applications and proposals which uplift the organizations' decolonial praxis and cultural essence of the programs and vision. This is a remote position that will require the contractor to attend relevant weekly meetings with corresponding team members.
Responsibilities:
Grants (55%):
• Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with active grant contracts while collaborating with the CED and grantors to support flexibility and strengthen relationships.
• Successful processing of applications and proposals including drafting, soliciting essential feedback, editing and submitting in a timely manner and in accordance with grant deadline and eligibility requirements.
• Develop relationships and maintain consistent communication with funders
• Collaborate and communicate with team members for up-to-date information to fulfill applications and reporting and compliance • Able to collaborate in grant writing processes with different partners and organizations
Donations and Fundraising (20%):
• Develop Year long and End of Year donor engagement strategies
• Garner sponsorship and fundraising efforts that supports the organization, based on building off prior support and expanding
• Collaborate and communicate with Media Team and Communications Coordinator to plan other fundraising campaigns
• Collaborate with Admin Coordinator to utilize donor system through Aplos Software System.
• Strategize fundraising campaigns for the overall organization • Sending gratitude letters to sponsors accordingly to tier system Other (25%) :
• To submit requested work and other duties as assigned within expected deadlines
• Translate Indigenous language and interpretation for a western audience without losing the essence of the program/mission/vision • Collect evaluation reports from the Program Coordinators & Weavers to create and collaborate on reports
• Research and track grant applications that will apply for the program
• Improve operational systems to streamline performance, including maintaining a grants calendar and tracking system, enhancing grant finance tracking processes, and updating program worksheets with timelines and ongoing improvements.
• Grant Station software management and other
• Join other team meetings as deemed necessary and reasonable
• Support work to advance autonomous land access by but not limited to, diversified funding strategies such as capital campaigns.
Required skills/abilities:
• Systems analytical thinking utilizing decolonizing methods
• Strong grammar and persuasive grant writing adaptable to diverse audiences
• Knowledgeable about decolonizing/cultural reclamation /land back and just transitions models
• Cultural awareness and understanding of Native Indigenous ways
• Equipped with several and different resources to complement the objective of this position
• Willingness to learn and practice non-violent communication techniques
• Capable of reading and interpreting verbally to CED emails and complex correspondence.
• Capable to understand verbal directions
• Motivated to problem solve and offer solutions in alignment with HAFN's values
• Strong work ethic and ability to create sustainable workflow
• Cultural awareness and background with Native American understanding
• Attention to detail, accuracy and proficiency
• Great interpersonal communication and relations skills
• Familiarity with grant database systems such as Grant Station/ Instrumental
• Knowledgeable about grants processes, reports and evaluation reports • Ability to successfully work on multiple projects and with various team members
• Have a sense of responsibility accountability and integrity
• Excel and Google sheets expertise to develop charts, formatting as needed with basic skills.
• Access to stable internet and online tools to fulfill remote work

• Proficiency on Microsoft systems (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, OneNote, Word, Power Point, etc)
Desired Qualifications
• Grant Writer Certificate/Career/ or relevant experience
• Proven Track record with expanding grant funding and fundraising
• Various courses/workshops/ knowledge that have shown multiple decolonizing ways of thinking and implementation
• Exposure or understanding to Native Indigenous Cultures and ways of thinking and community building
• Prior experience and a strong network with the philanthropic community in Front Range
• Highly knowledgeable about Indigenous ways of thinking and committed to conveying those perspectives and priorities to funders.
