Board Member Recruitment Process:
Joining the HAFN Board offers an opportunity to actively participate in decision-making, strategic planning, community organizing, fundraising, and supporting staff. Your involvement will play a pivotal role in shaping our organization's long-term vision while ensuring its financial stability.
Innovative Recruitment Approach:
Our recruitment process aims to onboard several Board Members at a time to build cohesive cohorts that will foster team spirit, camaraderie, and facilitate seamless transitions within the Board. We're committed to providing diverse avenues for recruitment whenever new Board Members are needed.
Nomination Process for Board Members:
Current Board Members and staff can nominate individuals who align with the organization's mission and vision. During a Board session, Board members will advocate for their nominees by highlighting their qualifications and skills.
The Board will conduct a vote to proceed with the recruitment process for the nominated candidates.
The Board Member who is acquainted with the potential candidate will reach out, gauge their interest, and schedule a meeting, involving another Board Member. In preparation, relevant materials such as the organization's website and bylaws will be shared.

Board members support fundraising, either through asking, coming to events, spreading the word about HAFN, or some way that utilizes your strengths. You do not have to be a professional fundraiser or know a lot of people with assets to engage.
How can HAFN support you?
By providing a creative and diverse space to support the development of a new organization.
By offering opportunities to deepen your personal commitment to dismantle white supremacy and to advance your contributions to social, racial and food justice through Indigenous leadership in a supportive and vulnerable space.
By offering board training opportunities to familiarize and teach new skills
Professional Development
We have individuals with extensive board membership experience and others that are new to it - HAFN offers the opportunity to learn and teach about budgeting, public speaking, fundraising, etc.
